Alumni in Action Every Game of NLL Week 6
While it was a slow weekend in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) this week, only three games, excitement ran high for the Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) as Alumni played in each of the three games which brought the anticipation of more career firsts and professional milestones.Â
Las Vegas Desert Dogs 12 - Albany Firewolves 11 OT
The Las Vegas Desert Dogs secured their first win of the 2024-25 NLL season with an overtime victory in Albany against the Firewolves. Landon Kells ('19, '21) backstopped the Desert Dogs for the entire game —plus overtime, 62:01 Minutes, making 48 Saves. Justin Geddie ('21) was on the bench for the Desert Dogs as back-up goaltender. Jake Saunders ('18) continue to help on the backend playing solid defence while picking up 2 Loose Balls, forced 1 Caused Turnover, and recorded 1 Shot on Goal in a transition opportunity. For the Albany Firewolves, Nick Chaykowsky ('15) was all over the floor collecting 10 Loose Balls, 1 Blocked Shot, and 1 Shot on Goal in transition.Â
Rochester Knighthawks 16 - Georgia Swarm 9
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Georgia Swarm lost their first game of the season. For the Swarm, Seth Van Schepen ('19) picked up 3 Loose Balls and Liam McGrath ('18, '21), in the first game of his NLL career, grabbed 2 Loose Balls, recorded 1 Blocked Shot, and 1 Caused Turnover.
San Diego Seals 6 - Ottawa Black Bears 5
In a surprising low scoring affair, the San Diego Seals beat the Ottawa Black bears 6-5 —with neither team scored a goal in the 4th Quarter! For the Seals, Matthew Wright scored the first (1) Goal of his NLL career, with 2 Shots on Goal, picked-up 2 Penalty Minutes, and 4 Loose Balls. The Seals held the Black Bears' Jeff Teat ('15) to only 1 Goal on 13 Shots on Goal, and scooped 2 Loose Balls. Jacob Dunbar was also held to 1 Goal, on 3 Shots on Goal, and he scooped 5 Loose Balls up for the night.Â
