Brad Lyons Selected in 2nd Round by Toronto Rock
PHILADELPHIA, PA - According to the Toronto Rock prior to the draft General Manager Jamie Dawick stated that defence would be their focus heading into the 2018 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. The Rock held true to their word with their first pick, in the 2nd Round and 24th Overall, selecting Courtice, ON native Brad Lyons from the Peterborough Lakers (OJALL). The 6’1”, 185 lbs, 19 year old anchored the Canadian defence to win Gold at the 2018 World Junior Lacrosse Championship this summers.
With two (2) years remaining on his Junior A eligibility and one (1) year remaining on his Major Junior eligibility, Lyons has the ability to make a powerful impact with his remaining Junior career before becoming a full-time professional in the National Lacrosse League. Powerful performances like the 2018 WJLC Gold Medal Game, where Lyons scored 3 Goals and added 1 Assist running out the back door, will be expected in his transition from junior to the professional ranks.
