Canada Advances to Semi-Finals with Win Over Australia

by CLL

With a full bench and coming off their opening game win Canada was excited to battle Australia in their second Round-Robin game of the 2023 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

Once again Canada's Matthew Boas opened the scoring. The game was quickly tied by Australia's Oscar Page (Player of the Game)

Canada was led in scoring by Joshua Goodman with 3 Goals and 9 Assists, supported by Finn Halladay's (Player of the Game) Sock Tick (6 Goals) performance, also adding 5 Assists for 11 Points.

Canada had Ty Petersen and Ryan Horbay split time in net, keeping Australia to only seven goals.

However, Australia did improve on last year's performance against Canada where their margin was 25 Goals. These Australians and Canadians have seen a lot of each other over the last twelve months; including the 2022 World Junior and the 2023 IIJL Commonwealth Cup that was played this March in Altona, VIC, a suburb of Melbourne.

With the win Canada advances to the Friday night Semi-Final at 8:00 PM CST. Their opponent will be determined after the Crossover games with reseeding taking place.
