Canada Alumni Playing at the 2022 Baggataway Cup

by CLL

Tonight four of the six teams that remain in the 2022 CUFLA Baggataway Cup championship will face-off in the second round.

Today in the Quarter Finals McGill University (3rd East) will play Western University (2nd West) at 4:30 PM ET and Brock University (3rd West) will play Bishop's University (2nd East) at 7:30 PM ET.

Games continue into the Semi Finals on Saturday at 1:30 PM ET where the winner of the McGill/Western will play Trent (1st East) and the winner of the Brock/Bishop's game will play Guelph (1st West) at 4:30 PM ET.

Finally, the winners of both Semi-Finals will meet for the right to hoist the Baggataway Cup on Sunday at 2:00 PM ET.

Now let's get to why you are here, to find out which Canada Alumni are playing in this year's Baggataway Cup. We'll his the teams as they appear on the schedule so there are now hard feelings.

While they have a formidable squad, McGill University does not have any Canada Alumni on their roster. They do however have the most geographically diverse roster! They have players from Ontario (10), British Columbia (5), Quebec (4), and Alberta (1). Along with their 20 Canadians they have 16 players from the United States from 10 different states; New Jersey (3), New York (3), California (2), Colorado (1), Connecticut (1), Florida (1), Maryland (1), Massachusetts (1), Ohio (1), and Tennessee (1).

Our first Canada Alumni is Caden Noseworthy, Midfield, for Western University - who looks amazing in his player bio picture. Caden played for Canada at the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship in Winnipeg, MB. Great to see Caden back on their field after battling back from injury.

Next up, Brock University with two Alumni, Sam Leclair, Attack, and Mitch Armstrong, LSM. Sam played at the 2019 World Juniors where he led Canada to gold and the championship in scoring and was named First Team All-World Forward. Mitch played at the 2022 World Juniors where he anchored the Canada defence to gold, also being named First Team All-World Defender.

Bishop's University does not have any Canada Alumni on the roster or anyone that has played at the World Junior. But some cool international flavour with Liam Reynolds, Midfield, from Adelaide, SA Australia

Trent University does not have any Canada Alumni on their roster wither. But they do have a 'Friend of the Program' on their team with Jackson Hainer, Goalie, who stood on his head in cage for Israel at the 2022 IIJl World Junior Lacrosse Championship.

Last, but certainly not least, is the University of Guelph with three Canada Alumni on their roster. Guelph finished first in CUFLA's West division - correlation maybe? On their roster Guelph has Jordan Ackie, Midfield who won a World Junior gold in '18, '19, and '21, Hunter Aggus, Defense who won gold in '18 and silver in '21, and Julian Siragusa, Defense who won gold in '22. Another Fried of the Program and shout out to Mitch Ogilive, Midfield, who played for Australia at the 2019 World Juniors and won a Mann Cup in 2022 with the Peterborough Lakers.

All games of the 2022 CUFLA Baggataway Cup will be streamed live on Lax Sports Network
