Canada Alumni Selected in Club League Entry Drafts

As club teams across the country gear up for their respective 2023 seasons, several leagues held their annual entry drafts to welcome in a new crop of players.  

Two of the drafts that were held over the weekend in took place in Ontario, where a total of eight (8) Canada Alumni were selected.

The Canada Alumni drafted into the MSL have a shared nine (9) Gold Medal between them. 

In addition to their new club responsibilities, each of the Canada Alumni selected in the MSL Entry Draft also play collegiately; Grace at the Rochester Institute of Technology (NCAA DIII), Wright at the University of North Carolina (NCAA DI), Peshko at Johns Hopkins University (NCAA DI), Butka at Newberry College (NCAA DII), McGrath at Lenoir-Rhynr University (NCAA DII), and Dramnitzke at Wilfrid Laurier University (CUFLA).

Stewart and Drimmie represented Canada at the 2021 IIJL World U15 Lacrosse Championship.

WESTERN LACROSSE ASSOCIATION

In British Columbia, Patrick Dodds and Justin Geddie were protected by the Victoria Shamrocks and Nanaimo Timbermen, respectively, in preparation for the WLA Entry Draft. Additionally, Dodds with Panther City Lacrosse Club, and Geddie with the Albany FireWolves, are currently playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

The remaining junior players in BC will find out where they will be playing senior this summer when the WLA holds their Entry Draft on January 31, 2023.
