Canada Comes Up Short in Gold Medal Game

The United States and US Indoor Lacrosse made history tonight winning their first IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship by defeating Canada by a score of 10-7 at SaskTel Centre. 

The United States got out to their usual explosive start against Canada, scoring the first 3 Goals of the game and closing out the 1st Quarter with a 3-0 lead. 

Canada would get 3 Goals from their top three scorers of the tournament, Matthew Boas, Finn Halladay, and Joshua Goodman to even up the game 3-3. That would be the last time they game was tied or any chance for Canada to be within striking distance to take the lead. 

At the end of the 3rd Quarter and into the 4th, the United States went on a 3 Goal run, including 2 Power Play Goals, that would ultimately put the game out of reach for Canada. 

The United States also out shot Canada 60-43, which propelled both Jackson Curtis and Shane Friesen to be named Players of the Game for the United States and Canada, respectively. 

Receiving the Silver Medal, Canada also had four players named to the First and Second Team All-World. First-Team; Matthew Boas - Forward, Bennett Frey - Defender. Second Team; Finn Halladay - Forward, Shane Friesen - Goaltender.
