Canadian Lacrosse League Partners with Supports Our Troops

WINNIPEG, MB - The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) is proud to announce a long-term partnership with Support Our Troops, the official charitable cause of the Canadian Armed Forces.

“The CLL is honoured to be able to show our appreciation for current and former men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces.” said Chris Fox, President of the Canadian Lacrosse League. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our organization to support current service members and veterans while encouraging others across Canada to donate to Support Our Troops." Fox added.

“We are honoured that the Canadian Lacrosse League has partnered with us. There is a great alignment between Canada’s national sport and the women and men that serve our country. Each one, in their unique way, embodies what makes Canada such an amazing country.” said Scott Johnson, Associate Vice President, Corporate Development at Support Our Troops. “We look forward to watching this league grow and appreciate the opportunity to partner with them.” added Johnson.

To launch the charitable initiative the CLL will unveil an exclusive apparel line that will feature the Support Our Troops Yellow Ribbon. In addition to the apparel line the CLL will auction-off commemorative jerseys that will be worn by Canada at the 2021 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship in Winnipeg, Manitoba. All net proceeds from the apparel line and commemorative game-worn jersey auction will be donated to Support Our Troops.

Support Our Troops is the official charitable cause of the Canadian Armed Forces. Established in 2007, Support Our Troops meets the unique needs and special challenges faced by members of the Canadian Armed Forces community as a result of military service. It operates within Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services. This includes providing financial assistance to promote family resiliency and to support the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of members with a physical and/or mental illness or injury. Well recognized by its trademarked yellow ribbon, the organization also provides an opportunity for supporters to show their care, compassion and support to serving members, veterans and their families through donations, attending community events and fundraising.

The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) was established in 2016 as a Founding Member Nation (Canada) of International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL) to compete annually in the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship (WJLC). The CLL is the first major junior lacrosse league in Canada with intra-league competition in the Ontario Lacrosse League (OLL) and Western Lacrosse League (WLL) culminating in a CLL National Championship.
