Closing Out the Year NLL Week 5

Another handful of games in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) this weekend. While not every team saw action on the floor, those that did, did not disappoint. World Junior Alumni from the 2019 championship continue to shine in this week's recap. 

Albany Firewolves 13 - Halifax Thunderbirds 9

Nick Chaykowsky ('15) was back in the line-up for the Firewolves. He picked up 4 Loose Balls, 1 Blocked Shot, and got 1 Shot on Goal. 

Ottawa Black Bears 12 - Toronto Rock 11

The last time the Ottawa Black Bears' Jacob Dunbar ('19) was at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, he was winning the 2019 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship Gold Medal. In his return this weekend he continued to impress, scoring 4 Goals on only 8 Shots on Goal, added 2 Assists, 7 Loose Balls, and 1 Cause Turn Over. Jeff Teat ('15) scored 3 Goals, 4 Assists, 13 Shots on Goal, 3 Loose Balls. For the Toronto Rock, Chris Weier ('19 E-Box) recorded 1 Assist in transition, picked up 6 Loose Balls, and 1 Caused Turn Over as the Rock move to 0-4 on the season.

Philadelphia Wings 12 - Saskatchewan Rush 11

For the Philadelphia Wings, Mitch Armstrong ('22) is still out of the lineup. Sam LeClair ('19) had a quiet night with 2 Assists, with only 3 Shots on Goal, and 1 Loose Ball. Deacan Knott ('22) did not play any minutes in net. For the Saskatchewan Rush Thomas Kiazyk ('21 U17) did not play any minutes in net. 

Vancouver Warriors 14 - Calgary Roughnecks 10

In the late game, Jonathan Peshko ('18, '19) continued to be a solid contributor for the Vancouver Warriors scoring 1 Goal with only 2 Shots on Goal, added 3 Assists, and 5 Loose Balls. Haiden Dickson ('18) remains sidelined with an injury for the Calgary Roughnecks. 

Georgia Swarm 13 - Colorado Mammoth 12

The only game on Sunday, the Georgia Swarm travelled to play the Colorado Mammoth. In another one-goal-game, for the Swarm Seth Van Schepen ('19) picked up 4 Loose Balls and Liam McGrath ('18, '21) contributed on the back end but silent on the stats sheet. For the Mammoth Sean Kriwokon ('21) 2 Penalty Minutes, 2 Blocked Shots, and 4 Loose Balls.
