Education & Career Development
Back to PlayersThe Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) is committed to helping player develop both on and off the floor. The CLL is the first lacrosse league in history to provide players access to scholarships through the Medicine Game Foundation that players can use for both post secondary education and career development.
While some players my choose to use their scholarship to pursue playing lacrosse at post secondary institutions, CLL understands that path is not suited for all players. CLL's Education & Career Development (ECD) program is designed to help every player competing in the CLL reach their individual goal. Wether it is pursuing an undergraduate degree and competing in CUFLA/MUFLL/MCLA/NAIA/NCAA, or not competing in intercollegiate athletics and attending a community college, completing occupation hours for the trades, starting your own business; the CLL supports players in their education and career pursuits.
Fundamentally, as a league that's focused on developing players to pursue "the next level", preparing young men for life off the floor is as necessary as preparing them for life on the floor. Many of our Alumni have been fortunate enough to be drafted and play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). While those accomplishments should not be dismissed, it is vitally important to understand the realities of professional sports and the NLL.
Many professional playing careers are short lived. Additionally, playing in the NLL means maintaining a professional career, outside of lacrosse, that generates income and provides a work-life balance that allows players to "work and play". Below you will find resources outlining both education and career development guidelines for players to apply, receive, and maintain scholarships while competing in the CLL.
To access the Education & Career Development portals, Players must have an active and verified Player Profile in the CLL database. If you do not have a Player Profile you can created one below using the Prospect Form.
