Statement on Racism

The murder of George Floyd, and far too many others, has sparked outrage and protest in opposition to the systemic oppression of the black community in the United States. Sadly, racism also exists in Canada where the black community, visible minorities, and Indigenous Peoples experience discrimination daily. The Canadian Lacrosse League stands against racism and is committed to listening and creating an environment where the voices of players, staff, officials, and fans are heard and valued equally regardless of race. 

Now is a time for action. We encourage everyone to listen and take the time to educate yourself by reading about systemic racism, white privilege, and the history of oppression against the black community. Be an ally by challenging racism and prejudice and by supporting the voices of black teammates, colleagues, and friends. Educating yourself, exposing racism, and having empathy will lead to change.
