Canada Development Team Enters 2022 LAXNAI

by CLL

UTICA, NEW YORK — The North American Invitational, also known as “LAXNAI” and the world’s largest international box lacrosse tournament, will return to competition following a two-year COVID hiatus - with the last champion crowned in 2019.

The Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL) will be entering the Canada Development Team (CANDT) into LAXNAI which will take place at the Adirondack Bank Center, formerly known as the Utica Memorial Auditorium, from September 29th to October 2nd in Utica, NY.

The CANDT last played at E-Box in Radotín, Czech Republic in April 2019. Then scheduled to travel to Altona/Melbourne, Australia to participate in the IIJL Commonwealth Cup in March 2020, but the trip was cancelled due to the pandemic.

While the team was competing under the Canadian Lacrosse League's Canada international program, there was no formal designation under the CLL Long-Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD).  The Canada Development Team (CANDT) was formalized in February 2022 encompassing both domestic and international development while meeting the development  needs of current junior players and providing continued opportunity for senior players.
