Melbourne/Altona, VIC - Alan Lewer Box Court, February 22 - March 5, 2026
The CLL Canada Development Team (CANDT) competes annually at the IIJL Commonwealth Cup (COMCUP). Established in 2020, Australian Box Lacrosse and Canadian Lacrosse League came together to create the IIJL Commonwealth Cup to establish a competitive event in Melbourne, VIC to assist Australia in the development of their roster for the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship, while providing Canadian players with eye-opening experience playing box lacrosse abroad.Â
In addition to competing in the IIJL Commonwealth Cup, Canada rosters enjoy sightseeing, taking in other Australian sporting events, and enjoying the Aussie summers along a number of famous beaches. Travelling internationally broadens player's horizons and is a valuable growth experience.Â
The IIJL Commonwealth Cup brings Canada’s National Summer Sport to a growing international audience and takes place at the only dedicated box lacrosse facility in the southern hemisphere in Altona, Victoria, Australia—steps from the beach and only a few minutes from downtown Melbourne. Include cultural/human interest notes (e.g., first-time passports, Aussie fans embracing box lacrosse).
